Microsoft has finally made it clear that the much-used app Wunderlist will phase out on May 6th, 2020. The news of the app being phased out in 2020 was already out; however, it did not announce the exact date earlier. The app has been quite popular amongst the users for managing and assigning tasks. As per the company, the phasing out of Wunderlust is a new beginning for another app.
Wunderlist Death Date Announced by Microsoft
Microsoft has now focused all its attention on the To-Do app, launched as a replacement of Wunderlist. When To-Do release, it was explicitly described as a replacement for Wunderlist.
Wunderlist first came in 2010 as a desktop application and later upgraded for iPhones and Android devices. Microsoft procured Wunderlist in 2015. The company provided many updates to the app. However, there were not many new prominent features introduced. The company later diverted the developer efforts to create To Do.

Microsoft wanted to maintain both the apps as of now; however; the company has announced the Wunderlist end date so that the users can prepare accordingly. The users should migrate to To-do so that when the product phases out, there are no inconsistencies due to which the users would face problems.
Wunderlist to End on May 6th, 2020
As per Microsoft, the users currently working on Wunderlist can continue till May 6th, 2020 however after that the sync function will stop working. Now new signups are not available for Wunderlist, and after the end date, the users who still work on the app can import the lists in the To-do. However, the import feature will be available only for some time after which the app will cease to function. The users are advised to move to To-Do before the phase-out period.
Microsoft Account Needed to Migrate to To-Do
The Wunderlist users will need a Microsoft account to migrate to To-do. There is also a provision to export list data to a ZIP file in case the company wants to use another app for to-do lists and task management.
To-Do New Features to Woo Wunderlist Users
The company intends to attract the current Wunderlist customers to use its newly launched App To Do. The updated features of To DO are coherent with the Wunderlist interface and functions to make it easy for the users to move to a new app. Thus, now Wunderlist users must use the Microsoft accounts to continue with To-do or find some other way out.
