AT&T will provide free HBO Max Services to its 10 million customers who have subscribed to HBO services on the network. With the increased competition in the Video and TV streaming domain, HBO Max is facing difficulties in recording growth in its user base.
The AT&T HBO subscribers will get free access to the HBO plus movies, TV classic shows like Jennifer Anniston’s Friends and HBO original shows starting this spring. At no extra cost, AT&T is offering this mega give away to its 10 million customers in the United States.

AT&T COO John Stankey revealed the numbers in an interview with the Reuters. He talked about the number of users who have subscribed to AT&T products like AT&T wireless services and DirecTV streaming services.

HBO Max and AT&T have a distant vision to couple the wireless and DirecTV Satellite data to understand its customers and then use better strategies for targeted ads. The company, in turn, plans to charge higher fees for its advertisements on its medium from clients. HBO Max services will help AT&T to maintain its active user base of wireless services.

HBO has faced a lot of competition in the streaming wars with the other competitors like Disney. Apparently, the costing of the HBO Max services is also a more significant roadblock since its subscription fee is higher than that of Apple and Disney. It is even more than the basic Netflix plan.

AT&T believes that HBO Max can help the company to boost profits for its cell phone business as well; however, the strategy is yet vague. As per analysts, AT&T has not yet seen much improvement with the bundling of Wireless and video streaming.
Investors Sceptical as Company Incurred Losses
AT&T has faced losses with more than 162 billion dollars debt, and Investors like Elliot Management have questioned the acquisition of WarnerMedia by the company.
John T Stankey, CEO of Time Warner, mentioned
“The success of HBO Max is built on the ability for the company to rationalize why (the companies that AT&T bought) all belong together”.
What’s Vision Forward
The HBO Max pricing will be out on Oct 29. Stankey also indicated that there might be a bundling of HBO Max with AT&T wireless subscriptions for the users. AT&T plans to use its HBO services subscriber’s user base by providing free HBO Max subscription and accentuate its stand in the streaming landscape.
