According to IDC, Cisco, the leading networking giant, has become the leader in SD-WAN manufacturing and is capturing a considerable part of the global market share.
Cisco partners consider Viptela as Cisco’s most strategic acquisition which has brought positive results for the company. The Viptela- Powered solutions have given a distinct identity to the Cisco solutions in the SD-WAN market which has many other players.
Cisco Grabs Major Market share with its Viptela and Meraki SD-WAN solutions
Last year the company started gaining the lead in the SD-WAN market, which is worth 1.4 Billion dollars with its robust offerings and front runner applications.
Leading the Market Year After Year
According to the latest IDC market share report, the networking giant has bagged the first position in the global SD-Wan infrastructure market. The report says that Cisco grabbed 46.4 % of the market last year.
Following Cisco, CloudGenix, Versa Networks, and Fortinet are other companies which are expanding in the SD-WAN market.
The reason behind Cisco capturing significant market share is its elaborate routing portfolio used in SDN deployments. The company is also using its SD-WAN solutions, Viptela Technology and Meraki for leading the domain.
Scott Harrell, The Senior Vice President and General Manager of enterprise networking at Cisco, said that the SD-WAN and cybersecurity manage services will provide a massive prospect to the channel operators. It is not just a market for selling the classic WAN solutions but also cater to the security offerings.
Capitalizing Existing Enterprise Routers Network
Cisco is also capitalizing on its widely installed enterprise routers that can now be upgraded using the latest Viptela SD-WAN technology.

According to IDC, the infrastructure market for SD-WAN is poised to expand to 4.5 billion dollars until the year 2022.
Viptella Acquisition – A Boost for Cisco in SD-WAN Market
In June this year, Cisco integrated the Viptela – enabled SDWAN offering in the Cisco Umbrella, which is Cisco’s cloud-based internet gateway. It is helping customers and partners securing the SD-WAN in the cloud framework.
