Gartner Release
Lenovo is now leading the global PC market because of capturing the commercial market and joining hands with Fujitsu. This tech giant acquired almost all the laptops and PC business of the Japanese company.
In a statement, Gartner said that in 2019, the demand for PCs has increased due to Windows 10 and the business has seen the refreshed market in the second quarter of 2019. The decline in the mobile PC shipment was also seen and there was growth for the desktop PC. It has been viewed that the shortage of Intel CPU is easing. This shortage majorly affected mid and small size vendors. Large vendors, on the other hand, took great advantage and continued to grow the market. Thus, taking market share away from the smaller vendors who struggled for CPUs.

In the global PC market Top three vendors (HP, Dell, and Lenovo) gained share by taking the advantage of economies scale, Gartner said. The shortage of Intel CPU in the first half of the year increased this trend. Lenovo in the same period observed an accelerated growth with its shipments growing leaps and bounds in double digits in all major regions except Latin America. Due to the trade dispute and imposition of tariffs, there seems to be an additional uncertainty to the outlook for the demand of PC, Gartner said in a statement.
The trade war between the U.S. and China had no impact on the global PC market in 2019. Tariffs impact would be seen in the next phase. Most of the tablets and laptops are manufactured in China and the sale of these devices in the U.S. could have a significant price increase due to punitive tariffs.
