Roots of artificial intelligence go back to the year 1950 when British mathematician Alan Turing rightly said that ‘AI’ is the system which has the capacity to generate human-scale performance’. Today, Machine learning systems are rapidly replacing government contexts, education, healthcare, and commercials. But it has also given birth to what we call as Natural Stupidity.
Natural Stupidity is more dangerous as it is making us dumb with the use of technology for everything, be it buying groceries, clothes, medicines and what not? Even doctors are available online, you can consult them and some of them will even prescribe medicines. Its hard to understand how is it possible for a doctor to prescribe medicines without examining a patient.
Is Artificial Intelligence making Humans Dumb
We all use GPS to guide us to unfamiliar places as if we humans don’t have the ability to get that place without GPS. Directional instinct is being faded because of the lack of memory. We now search for everything on Google, Instead of finding the details of something. We are more interested as to how and how much we can search? Now the natural stupidity is the driver of these biases only. There is too much information without enough meaning, the problem is what we should remember?

These days human beings are becoming lazy with their own mental blockages because they feel that are smarter with their smartphones and they multi-task simultaneously. But the fact is that the human brain has not evolved for multitasking. Research shows that birds have better multitasking capacity than humans. So we are developing multitasking skills through AI just to find out that we humans are even dumber than birds.
CEO’s and bigger giants in the company know that automation is making humans dumber and hence, they are exploiting natural stupidity to influence human behavior. Advertising industry invests trillions of dollars to find new ways for motivating customers without being aware of its influence. These techniques rightly fall in the exploitation of cognitive biases. We get motivated and spend money in the best efficient way we think and that’s what the companies want us to do. If we reduce the spending there would be economic depression.
Natural stupidity is lack of memory, lack of processing information, lack of meaning. It’s good that AI is taking over the world but the irony of the situation is that the natural stupidity has taken over the world.
