U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services CIO Mark Schwartz has submitted his resignation and soon would step down from his position. Schwartz’s last day in USCIS is yet to be negotiated.
Public affairs officer for USCIS says,
“USCIS confirms Mark Schwartz has tendered his resignation, and his last day in the office will be negotiated with leadership.”

Schwartz At USCIS
Schwartz joined USCIS at CIO in June 2010. Since then he has managed all the IT services that enable USCIS to manage immigration. Some of his chief projects at USCIS included adopting DevOps methodologies for software.
Last Day At USCIS
He worked at USCIS for 7 years, his final day is yet to be announced.
Who Will Succeed Schwartz?
There is information yet on who would succeed Schwartz as the CIO at USCIS. The public affairs rep said,
“Internal discussions are occurring about who will be named to the acting chief information officer role until a permanent replacement is named,” he added, “That decision has yet to be made.”
Schwartz’s Next Endeavor
Schwartz will be heading DigitalTown in his next role, he would be serving on the board of directors. DigitalTown is a cloud-based online infrastructure services provider. Before joining USCIS Schwartz was CIO of Intrax Cultural Exchange, where he handled a similar role of overseeing the efforts to replace paper-based processes in the field and abroad with electronic processes. He also worked as CEO of software and online services provider Auctiva Corp.; consultant at management consulting firm Mitchell Madison Group; and software development director of ClientXChange.
Raj Ananthanpillai, the chairman, and CEO of InfoZen, said,
“As a result of his successes, other agencies are now adopting his strategy to quickly and efficiently modernize their mission IT applications,” he said. “He has set the standard for true agile environments and will be missed.”
