Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Facebook was chosen to give Harvard University’s commencement speech, a remarkable honor for somebody who himself had quietly drop out of Harvard.
Mark Zuckerberg stressed the importance that graduates lead a life of clear purpose. But the other message not to be missed out; success can all be had without investing the time and money in a formal education. Since he is worth $64 billion.
But the Mission of Harvard is to have students graduate far better prepared than when they got there, for work and whatever else life brings.
Sadly, it is quite common that celebrities’ advice graduates in college who themselves have never been one of them. Like Apple co-founder Steve Jobs who nailed a commencement speech in 2005 at Stanford University while he is also a drop-out.

The anxiety in young minds about the value of an expensive college degree can be satisfied with a trust on Steve Jobs. He said that his days of struggle and his college years are like dots which when connected got him where he is today.
The same week when Mark Zuckerberg appeared at Harvard, graduates at Grinnell College in Iowa, even comedian and HBO TV star Kumail Nanjiani also delivered a speech.
The difference between both celebrities’ speech was that Mark Zuckerberg talked about graduates helping other people lead a purpose-driven life, but really it turned out to be mostly about himself.
On the other hand, Nanjiani talked about himself and in turn about all the graduates seated in front of him.
Nanjiani started with reference to famous products of Grinnell College – Gary Cooper and musician Herbie Hancock, who both were dropped out as well.
“Perhaps that was the mistake I made,” he continued. “It’s the same mistake that you are all making right now. History is full of stories of extremely successful individuals who dropped out of college. You and I will never be among them.”
Probably, this is what is the value of an education. At least one of them gave an assurance to the college graduates.
