On Tuesday, Apple and Nokia finally announced the settlement of their legal dispute over the use of patents and other intellectual property owned by the Finnish mobile maker. Now both the companies have agreed to undergo a multi-year patent license deal, according to a press release. Let’s know more on how Apple and Nokia, plan to explain their business relationships.
Apple’s Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams said in a statement,
“We are pleased with this resolution of our dispute and we look forward to expanding our business relationship with Nokia”

Apple And Nokia Hope To Team Up On New Health Tech Initiatives
1. Companies Settle Dispute And Sign A Multi-Year Patent License
Apple and Nokia in a joint statement announced that they have settled all the litigation related to their intellectual property dispute and have signed a multi-year patent license.
2. The New Agreement
According to the new agreement, Nokia would provide network infrastructure products and services to Apple. And Apple, would resume the sale of Nokia Health products which was previously sold under the Withings brand. Both the companies are now set to work together on new digital health initiatives.
3. Nokia’s Chief Legal Officer Calls It A “Meaningful Agreement.”
Maria Varsellona, Nokia’s Chief Legal Officer in a statement, called this agreement to be a meaningful one. Varsellona added,
“It moves our relationship with Apple from being adversaries in court to business partners working for the benefit of our customers”
4. Financial Details Of The Agreement Are Kept Confidential
Apple and Nokia, have kept the financial details of the agreement confidential. Including the additional revenues during the terms of the agreement, Apple will provide Nokia with an “up-front cash payment.”
Apple And Nokia: The Dispute
This new agreement has come after Nokia announced it had filed “a number of” complaints against Apple in Germany and the U.S, in December. In the complaint Nokia claimed, that the Cupertino tech giant was using its parented creations in “many” products, without a license for them. Nokia said Apple’s products intrude on “32” of its patents covering “display, user interface, software, antenna, chipsets, and video coding” technologies. The Finnish phone maker said the legal action came years after failed negotiations with Apple.
