Google has come up with a feature that allows users to order food directly from the search results page. The service was launched on Friday in the United States only and will roll out to other countries soon.
As users will search for nearby restaurants on their smartphones, a “Place an order” option will also appear in their search results along with other details of the restaurant. On clicking on the option, users will be directed to delivery providers which handle online deliveries for particular restaurants.
“Initially, you’ll be able to order via six providers in the US — Seamless, Grubhub, Eat24, Delivery.com, BeyondMenu and MyPizza.com — but we’ll be looking to add more in the future,” Google said in post on its Google+ social network page.
Google’s latest move is part of making social and local search more and more relevant for the site, especially on mobile. The ‘directly-order’ from the search page option, is Google’s way of ensuring that instead of trying different apps for a food delivery, users can simply rely on Google Search.
