Southfield-based information technology company Stefanini Inc. has told the state it is laying off 107 employees it provided to Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn and Allen Park because the automaker is outsourcing the jobs to India.
But Stefanini said in its notice to a state agency that some employees might get rehired by the company in India.
In a federally required notice received by the state Friday, Stefanini officials said they are eliminating deskside technicians, helpdesk technicians as well as engineers, managers and administrators from April 1-14.
According to Friday’s WARN notice, Ford Motor Co. notified Stefanini that its business would be “transitioned to HCL technologies, an Indian-owned company headquartered in Noida, India.”

Stefanini said it notified the affected employees Friday and that HCL intends to interview and make offers to “a limited number of affected employees.”
The company also said it might transfer some affected employees with the correct skills to other openings inside Stefanini.
The layoffs run counter to a recent trend in which American companies have brought jobs back from overseas. GalaxE.Solutions, a health care information technology firm with an office in Detroit, has posted a large “Outsource to Detroit” sign on the building it occupies at 1001 Woodward Avenue in downtown.
