EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC) has added a former 20-year General Electric executive to join the storage giant as CIO and executive vice president of corporate services.
Vic Bhagat has joined the Hopkinton, Mass.-based company, replacing Sanjay Michrandani. He will report to president and COO Howard Elias.
Before joining EMC, Bhagat, who holds a bachelors of science in MIS and marketing from the University of Louisville, KY, helped establish Accenture’s Big Data analytics practice for Natural Resources. He also held the role of CIO for many organizations within GE including GE Aviation Services, GE Global Growth and Operations, CNBC, GE Corporate, GE India and Southeast Asia.
“I’ve admired and worked closely with EMC over the years, and look forward as, together, we transform the industry through Cloud Computing, Big Data and Trusted IT solutions,” Bhagat said in a statement.

News of the appointment comes just one day before EMC is slated to release its Q4 earnings. Last quarter, the company reported growth based on its storage business and growth in its VMware revenues. Analysts expect EMC’s growth to continue, but more slowly.
