At the recent Brasscom Global IT Forum in São Paulo, IT Decisions met with Kirk Laughlin. Kirk is the founder and editorial director of Nearshore Americas which is now behind Sourcing Brazil as well. IT Decisions spoke to him and asked him what he felt about Brazil sourcing marketplace. He did mention that Brazil cannot follow the same formula that India followed, and that would be a grave mistake. What Indian companies did cannot be followed by newer entrants such as Brazil, as the world has changed dramatically and outsourcing itself has evolved as a concept.
Brazil cannot afford to be yet another India or the Philippines and will have to carve out a niche for itself if it wants to remain alive and kicking in the sourcing world. Partly because Brazil is not an English speaking country, this achievement or rather, ambition is difficult to achieve. One of the advantages that Brazil has is that it is closer home to North America than India is, and that precisely is one of the biggest advantages.Insiders feel that the future remains bright for Brazil, and it is not only international buyers from the U.S. and Canada, but also from other nations in European Union who might be interested in Brazil’s growth and potential. The country’s economy too is growing at a staggering speed and it only makes sense to tap into this optimistic market where as the world is reeling under economic gloom and pessimism.
