Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM) at Indian School of Business (ISB) welcomed the 5th class of Advanced Management Programme for Healthcare (AMPH) via online mode today. Dr. Indu Bhushan, CEO of Ayushman Bharat and National Health Authority (NHA), delivered the inaugural address to the incoming class.

Speaking on ‘Ayushman Bharat 2.0 – The next frontier’, Dr. Bhushan shared the vision behind Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), challenges being faced due to COVID-19 and the future course for the initiative. He said, “Through PM-JAY, we are trying to decrease the disease burden in India. The programme is aimed at decreasing the out-of-pocket expense by people through increased public expenditure on healthcare services and delivery. We are leveraging the power of IT to connect the payers, the beneficiaries and the hospitals, along with enhancing capacity-building, monitoring and evaluation, portability, awareness generation grievance redressal and fraud prevention.”

Dr. Bhushan exhorted the AMPH participants to look at healthcare with the prime objective of welfare maximisation. He added that NHA has been tasked with implementing the National Digital Health Mission aimed at significantly ramping up IT infrastructure in the health sector. Under this mission, they are looking at providing unique health ID and enabling Electronic Health Records in India.

Professor Sarang Deo, Executive Director, Max Institute of Healthcare Management (MIHM) and Professor of Operations Management at ISB, while welcoming the class said, “At AMPH, you have the opportunity to reimagine and define the new normal in healthcare as you learn, discuss and debate in classes taught by world class faculty amid a peer group of accomplished professionals.”
