The Indian Health Service is expanding specialty care in its Billings area facilities, allowing providers to refer patients to specialists in behavior health, heart care, kidney care and other areas.
The Indian Health Service (IHS) said the expansion will take effect in August, and the appointments can be done virtually.
Additionally, the Northern Cheyenne Service Unit in Lame Deer will now provide dermatology, endocrinology, wound management, and rheumatology telehealth specialty services, according to a news release.
Billings area IHS facilities include the Blackfeet Service Unit, Crow Service Unit, Flathead Tribal Health, Fort Belknap Service Unit, Fort Peck Service Unit, Northern Cheyenne Service Unit, Rocky Boy Tribal Health and Wind River Service Unit, according to www.ihs.gov.

As of May 12, Billings area IHS facilities conducted 5,531 COVID-19 tests, 143 of which were positive, according to its website, which also acknowledges that data reporting is voluntary.
