The National Safety Council (NSC) Telangana chapter, collaborating with the Department of Factories, Government of Telangana, successfully conducted a comprehensive workshop on ‘Fire Prevention and Mitigation in Factories’ at Hyderabad’s KLN Prasad Auditorium. The Monday event attracted an impressive turnout of 360 delegates representing diverse manufacturing facilities across the state, underscoring the growing importance of fire safety protocols in industrial settings.

B. Rajagopala Rao, who serves as both the Director of Factories for the Government of Telangana and Chairman of the NSC Telangana Chapter, delivered a compelling opening address highlighting the alarming increase in fire incidents. His concerns extended beyond industrial environments to encompass residential complexes, commercial establishments, hotels, shopping malls, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.
“Despite housing numerous high-risk facilities including oil refineries, explosive manufacturing units, pharmaceutical plants, and chemical processing factories, Telangana maintains a comparatively lower rate of factory fire accidents than many other states,” Rao noted. However, he immediately cautioned against any sense of complacency, emphasizing that fire safety requires constant vigilance.

Y.
