PILIBHIT: At least three persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Pilibhit.
A 20-year-old youth, identified as Sunil Kumar, died after his bike collided with another bike coming from the opposite side near FCI godowns on Puranpur-Banda road under Puranpur Kotwali police station. While pillion rider, Umesh Kumar, sustained multiple injuries. He was admitted in district government hospital.
In a similar accident, two persons died on the spot after a speeding truck hit their bike on Bareilly-Hardwar national highway 74 near Shahi police outpost of Jahanabad police station.
The deceased have been identified as Saleem (25) and Ishtihar (35) of Dhaura Tanda town under Deorania police station in district Bareilly. The police impounded the truck while its driver managed to flee.
Station house officer Harish Vardhan Singh said that an FIR against the unidentified truck driver has been lodged under sections 304 A (causes the death of any person by doing any rash or negligent act), 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 427 (mischief and thereby causing loss or damage to the amount of fifty rupees or upwards) of the IPC.
