Health officials in Wyandotte County said Friday that they are monitoring two more clusters of COVID-19 at long term care facilities. The county also announced a new death at a rehab center that is at the center of a federal investigation.
The Unified Government Public Health Department said Delaware Highlands Assisted Living Center, located at 12600 Delaware Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, has had 16 residents and two staff members test positive for the coronavirus. The county also said Life Care Center of Kansas City, located at 3231 N. 61st Street in Kansas City, Kansas, has two residents and two staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19.
“Our staff are working hard to investigate these cases and provide appropriate instruction to the facilities on how to protect their residents and staff,” health officials said in a Facebook post.
Authorities said there have been no hospitalizations or deaths reported.

But at River Bend Post Acute Rehabilitation, the county said there have now been 28 residents who have died from the coronavirus. The 28 deaths account for a quarter of Kansas’ 111 deaths from the COVID-19.
Overall there have been 103 residents and 25 staff members that have now tested positive at the center, the county said. Six residents are currently in the hospital with COVID-19, the county said.
