AMG Specialty Hospital, a long-term care hospital in San Antonio will close Aug. 16, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
The 30-bed hospital is shutting down roughly 14 months after it was acquired by Lafayette, La.-based AMG Integrated Healthcare Management. The company cited a decline in Medicare reimbursements as the reason for the closure, according to the report.
National Association of Long Term Hospitals President Lou Little told the San Antonio Express-News that the entire long-term care hospital sector is struggling. He said at least 50 long-term care hospitals in the U.S. have closed in the past two years.
