Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. has inaugurated the new Hill-Rom Envella Air Fluidized Therapy Bed – a latest innovative solution for patients with advanced wounds. A Global Medical Technology leader – Hill Rom has even displayed this bed at the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mr. Paul Johnson, president of Hill-Rom Patient Support Systems has raised a concern that;
“Pressure injuries present a significant challenge for the entire healthcare environment. Across the care continuum, pressure injuries are quite common, cause serious concerns both to patients and their caregivers, and create financial burdens for the healthcare system. The Envella™ bed’s differentiated technology provides an ideal healing environment for the prevention and treatment of advanced pressure injuries.”
What are the difficulties Pressure injuries throw for patients and caregivers?

Almost one in 10 patients have pressure injuries and minimum one in 20 patients are forced to suffer a facility acquired pressure injury during their stay in the hospital.
To add to it even financial requirement is on the higher side for pressure injury patient. The reason behind it is that the pressure injury patients have to stay for longer time in hospitals. Their probability of getting re-admitted within 30 days is more, even the mortality rate is three times higher and the worst of all on an average they require an extra $10,000.
How can Hill-Rom Envella Bed therapy aid patients and caregiver?
The Envella Bed has been designed by the Hill-Rom with only aim to provide a high-quality care for complex patients and to raise the standards of healthcare. Hill-Rom has taken utmost care even while designing the Envella bed to make air fluidized therapy more comfortable and safer for patients and at the same time easier for caregivers to operate. The specialty of this bed lies in its increased bead depth, adjustable air flow, sensing technologies, advanced weight-based pressure distribution and an integrated scale.
Why is Air Fluidized Therapy (AFT) effective?
Hill-Rom has preferred this therapy after a deep study. AFT is effective because it creates a fluid-like environment by pushing air flow through a bed of millions of tiny beads that gives a floating sensation to patients. This bed maximizes immersion and envelopment, minimizes shear and pressure, and effectively regulates the skin’s microclimate.
Hill-Rom assures better outcomes for patients with complex and advanced wounds in a cost-effective way for a range of patient acuities like flaps/grafts and stages 3-4 pressure injuries.
Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc. work to achieve its mission: Every day, around the world, we enhance outcomes for patients and their caregivers.
