Dubai Health Authority has announced the establishment of a new smart data centre which will help revolutionise its storage of medical records.
DHA said in a statement that it is now preparing to transfer all its data to the new centre, to be used for storage during 2017.
The centre will serve as DHA’s primary data centre for the next 10 years and will support its electronic medical record initiative.
The centre, which will be maintained by trained specialists, will allow the authority to store its data safely and efficiently by optimising power usage, the statement said.

Amani Al Jasmi, head of Health Information Systems Section at DHA said the centre is equipped to store system information and statistics, medical records of patients and data related to visitors to hospitals and research and medical centres.
Last year, the UAE Cabinet endorsed proposals to establish a national database of patients’ medical records as part of plans to improve the UAE healthcare sector.
The initiative is one of the outcomes of the Cabinet’s Government Innovation Lab, chaired last year by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai during the Ministerial Retreat.
It aims to unify all medical records of patients in the UAE, facilitate movements of patients among healthcare providers, as well as connect public hospitals and clinics.
