Even though much of what CIOs and IT departments hear aboutelectronic health record adoption is about providers in the U.S., adoption rates are increasing in many other countries and the market landscape looks somewhat different.
Cerner and InterSystems, in fact, “stand out as the top-performing fully rated vendors” when it comes to regional performance, according to a new report from the healthcare research firm KLAS.
More specifically, Cerner dominates Europe and the Middle East while InterSystems is strong in Asia/Oceania,KLAS found.

“Epic performs best in large organizations across the globe,” KLAS authors wrote, “with providers citing strong implementation, functionality and support.”
KLAS noted that Allscripts, CSC and Meditech play in Europe as well. And while KLAS did not rankeClinicalWorks in this latest report, the EHR maker earlier this month stepped into the international market by signing its first customer in the United Kingdom and, in so doing, hinted at more announcements to come.
This most recent report comes on the heels of research published last month in which KLAS determined thatathenahealth, Cerner, and Epic were the leading vendors in terms of interoperating with other EHRs.
