The shift toward electronic medical records systems and linked networks is behind a surge in need for 75 new information technology professionals at Fidelis Care.
“It’s a time of a lot of change and to me, an exciting time to be in IT,” said Martin Krebs, chief information officer. “Our charge is to partner with the providers and make sure we are in sync with them. We’re trying to stay at pace with the industry changes and our growth.”
The company announced last December it would add 385 jobs at its Getzville center over the next five years in response to organizational growth and increased membership. Some of that growth will come after completion of a $16.5 million facility expansion underway at its CrossPoint Parkway site.
The IT jobs are available immediately, with some paying salaries into the six figures, Krebs said.

“There’s 40 posted positions we don’t have filled, and over 30 coming with the next two months,” he said. “If they walked in the door tomorrow, they’d be offered the job.”
Fidelis, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, has grown its location operation rapidly in recent years, with employment rising from 430 two years ago to 740 now, including more than 160 IT professionals. The new jobs range from entry level to management, with all positions supporting its Buffalo regional office.
With an average salary of $70,000, entry-level jobs pay about $40,000 while senior level slots exceed $100,000 depending on the role, Krebs said.
Based in Queens, Fidelis provides health-care services to more than a million members across the state and more than 120,000 new members since January 1, Fidelis Care has more than 95,000 members in the eight counties of Western New York. The Getzville facility is the largest of three regional operations centers across the state.
