Aetna is touting its Premier Care Network Plus program as a way for national employers and other members to reduce costs by accessing value-based care.
The Hartford-based insurer on Wednesday said the program provides “a national option” that gives employers and their workers access to the “most efficient” Aetna network geographically, since health providers in many areas across the country are now providing value-based care through Aetna.
“While most health care is delivered locally, we need to be able to support organizations that have employees located around the country,” said Cain Hayes, president of Aetna National Accounts. “The Aetna Premier Care Network Plus enables employers to provide a single, simplified solution for their entire employee population.”
Aetna Premier Care Network Plus features so-called accountable care organizations in 10 locations, with plans to add more ACOs to the network. These groups offer coordination of care among doctors, hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and other care providers and try to improve patient experience through care-management programs and the use of advanced technology that delivers actionable data to healthcare providers, Aetna said.
