The number of those enrolled in New Mexico health insurance plans has increased by 15,000 since Nov. 15, the beginning of the open enrollment period under the Affordable Care Act, according to New Mexico Health Connections.
New Mexico Health Connections is a non-profit, consumer-operated health plan. It began selling insurance on and off the health exchange, BeWellNM.com, which provides access to the Healthcare.gov website where consumers can enroll in plans under the health law and obtain subsidies to help pay for premiums.
As of Feb. 22, around 52,358 New Mexicans had enrolled in a plan through the exchange, according to the U.S. Department of Health.
