Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Executive Vice President and chief Operating Officer Peggy Scott has announced that she will retire from her position next year.
A statement from the company Wednesday (Aug. 20) said Scott, who has also served as chief financial officer and treasurer will retire in July of 2015.
“We will be sad to see her leave us. Peggy has played a vital role in the success of this company over the past nine years,” said Mike Reitz, President and CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in a statement.
The company will use the next year to search for Scott’s successor.
Scott’s career has seen numerous awards and highlights. She became the first woman in the nation to receive the IMA/Robert Half National Financial Executive of the Year award in a national competition.
Scott was the first Louisiana resident to be named to the American Institute of CPAs’ Business and Industry Hall of Fame in 2007. In April 2008, she was inducted into Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business’s Hall of Distinction.
A certified public accountant, Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from LSU and an executive MBA from Tulane University in New Orleans, according to her company profile.
Prior to joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in October 2005 as executive vice president and chief financial officer, Scott served as an executive vice president with lead financial and operational roles at several companies, including Pan-American Life Insurance Company, Novant Health, Inc. and General Health System and was a managing partner with Deloitte. She was appointed COO at Blue Cross in June 2008.
