Apple has procured the Canadian machine learning startup Inductiv to enhance its virtual voice assistant Siri. Inductiv uses artificial intelligence to automate the task of identifying and correcting errors in data. The cleaned-up data from AI can facilitate strengthening the performance of Siri with machine learning.

Started by professors from Stanford University and the University of Waterloo and Wisconsin, Inductiv works towards the implementation and study of Machine Learning. Christopher Re from Stanford, one of the founders of Inductiv, sold one of his other companies to Apple in 2017. As reported by Bloomberg, Apple is widely looking to enhance SIRU experience by strengthening the Artificial Intelligence and technology behind it.

The Bloomberg report detailed that the Inductive engineering team has been collaborating with Apple in the past few weeks to work on the various projects related to data science, machine learning, and AI.

Apple Executive enhancing machine learning and AI tech for Siri
Recently John Giannandrea, Apple executive taking care of Siri and Machine Learning is working to enhance all the collaterals and technology which supports Siri, Apple’s assistant, and various other artificial intelligence products from the tech giant.
Apple released an official statement.
Apple released its statement detailing the acquisition, saying that “it buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans”.
Apple has acquired several companies in AI and ML space
In recent times Apple has acquired several smaller companies working towards artificial intelligence and related technologies. It also purchased the AR company NextVR recently, which has expertise in virtual reality implementation for sports and events.
Apple also bought various AI and data science companies in recent years, including Turi, Tuplejump, Perceptio, Laserlike, and Xnor.ai. The iPhone weather app highly used by the iOS users; the tech leader also procured dark Sky.
